CPC Cetnral Pest Control provides
insect eradication and prevention for all areas
both inside and outside whether in the home or in
Commercial and Industrial sectors.
Some insects are more common and
problematic and some are more seasonal. CPC Central
Pest Control will treat individual pest problems
accordingly.

ANTS
|
|
Problems occur when ants are out
foraging for food and enter buildings,
becoming a nuisance and ruining food. Ants
will often form trails from the food
source - usually sweet foods - to the
point of their entry into the building,
through cracks and crevices.
Nest sites start when a single winged
female lays her eggs. She will tend and
feed the grubs and larvae that emerge
until they become the first workers for
the new Queen.Approximately 8-9 weeks
after the eggs are laid the first worker
ants emerge.
|
|

These workers will tend the Queen and
subsequent larvae as well as foraging for
food.
Mating usually takes place in late
summer when males and large females take
to the wing, they form large swarms, which
usually last for 2-3 hours. All the males
die leaving a small proportion of mated
females to found new colonies.

WASPS
|
|

Nests reach their peak size in
September and can contain 3 to 5 thousand
individuals. As the temperature drops the
surviving wasps become more aggressive,
will enter kitchens and bakeries etc. as
they hunt out sweet substances.
|
|
With the onset of winter only the
queens will survive. After hibernating
over-winter the fertilised queen wasp
starts her nest building in spring, and
lays between 10 to 20 eggs. Once through
the larvae stage the new workers that
emerge continue with enlarging the nest
and feeding the new larvae.
Although sprays will kill foraging
wasps it will seldom solve the problem.
The nest should be treated.

BED
BUGS
|
|
Bed Bugs like to travel and will hide
in suitcases, boxes and shoes to be near a
food supply. They are elusive, nocturnal
creatures.
They can hide behind baseboards,
electrical switchplates, picture frames,
even wall paper. They come out at night
for a blood meal.
Bed Bugs are elusive creatures, so it
is imperative to seek professional pest
control to address an infestation.
|
|

Bed Bugs like to hide in small cracks
and crevices close to a human environment.
They can be found behind baseboards,
wallpaper, upholstery, and in furniture
crevices.

|
|

|
|
Although bed bugs can dine on any
warm-blooded animal, they primarily dine
on humans. Bedbugs do not transmit
diseases, but their bites can become red,
itchy welts.

COCKROACHES
|
|
Cockroaches are known carriers of
serious diseases, such as, salmonella,
dysentery, gastroenteritis and other
stomach complaint organisms. They
adulterate food and spread pathogenic
organisms with their faeces and defensive
secretions.
Cockroaches moult regularly throughout
their life-cycle. The discarded skin
becomes airborne and can cause severe
asthmatic reactions, particularly to
children, the elderly and people with
bronchial ailments.

|
|

Although sanitation and hygiene are
important deterrants, even the cleanest
buildings can become infested with
cockroaches due to minute deposits of
grease, sugar and other food deposits in
difficult to get at places, such as, in
drains, behind refrigerators and
dishwashers, inside cracks and crevices in
kitchen cupboards.
If left unchecked a cockroach
infestation can rapidly expand it's
numbers in a few weeks or months to become
major risk to health and safety.

FLEAS
|
|
Fleas don't live on animals. They hop
on to eat, then hop off to live and
reproduce soft furnishings, bedding or
carpets.
Eggs are loosely laid and drop out
where the pet rests, sleeps or nests
(rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, cat
or dog boxes, kennels, sand boxes,
etc.)

Eggs hatch in two days to two weeks
into larvae found indoors in floor cracks
and crevices, along baseboards, under rug
edges and in furniture or beds.
|
|

In about five to fourteen days, adult
fleas can emerge or may remain resting in
the cocoon until the detection of
vibration (pet and people movement),
pressure (host animal lying down on them),
heat, noise, or carbon dioxide (meaning a
potential blood source is near).
In addition to this, Completely
developed adult fleas can live for several
months without eating, as long as they do
not emerge from their cocoons.
